“Unity is the great need of the hour” spoke Dr. King “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny”.
January 19th is the day set aside for remembrance of Dr. King and the revolution he helped lead and which will bear witness to one of it’s greatest achievements on January 20th , 2009. 45 years from the passage of the Civil Rights Act, 144 years from the conclusion of our Civil War; President-Elect Barack Obama will take the Oath of Office and become the 44th President of our United States. The first African-American in our History.
President-Elect Obama has called for a National Day of Service for all Americans on this years Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Whatever form this may take, let us all join together in that “single garment of destiny” and remember that our time is now… that out of many, we are one… that “we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty”.
Yes We Can.
Yes We Did.
Yes We Will.
